The Mississippi native was given the award for his work as a global ambassador for American architects through his role with the American Institute of Architects.
Robert Ivy has been working as a practicing architect since the 1980s and found fame as the lead for the Dean/Dale, Dean & Ivy practice. The Lifetime Achievement Award recipient built a successful brand before his focus switched to academia and journalism when he took up the role of Editor-in-Chief at “Architectural Record.” The success of his role as an editor allowed Ivy the chance to extend his journalism and business skills through an executive role at McGraw-Hill’s Construction Media. Recently, the founder of the pizza restaurant chain Papa Johns has been under a considerable amount of scrutiny. Papa Johns founder John Schnatter placed blame on the National Football League for its decline in sales revenue. As a result of this criticism, the NFL ended its sponsorship agreement with the pizza chain. This was a minor setback compared to latest one where John Schnatter made a racially offensive remark on a conference call. As a result of this remark, Major League Baseball has decided to end its association with the restaurant chain as well. The consequences for Schnatters racist remarks have resulted in his name being taken down from a stadium located in Louisville, Kentucky and also the removal of his image from every box and marketing material of the company.
